ʻAha Kuhina a me ʻAha Hoʻokō

Ma ka Paukū 52 o ke Kumukānāwai o ka makahiki 1852, i hoʻoholo ʻia ma hope o ka wā i noho aliʻi ai ʻo Kauikeaouli, penei: “O na Kuhina o ke Alii he Ahakuhina ko lakou no ka Moi, ma na hana hooko o ke Aupuni.” Na ke aliʻi i koho iā lākou.

A mahope aku, ma lalo o ka Paukū 42 o ke Kumukānāwai o ka makahiki 1864 i hoʻoholo ʻia i ka wā i noho aliʻi ai ʻo Kamehameha V, ua hoʻololi ʻia ke ʻano o ka hoʻonoho ʻana o ka ʻAha Kuhina. ʻĪ maila, “Eia na hoa kuka o ka Aha Kuhina o ka Moi: o ke Kuhina no ko na Aina e, o ke Kuhina Kalaiaina, o ke Kuhina Waiwai, a me ka Loio Kuhina o ke Aupuni; a e noho lakou i mau hoa ma ka Ahakukakukamalu o ka Moi.”

I ka wā ma hope, ua lilo ka ʻAha Kuhina ka ʻAha Hoʻokō ma muli o ka palapala i kapa ʻia: “Proclamation Establishing a Provisional Government.” ʻO kēia palapala, na ia palapala no nā hanana e pili pū ana i ka hoʻokahuli kūʻē kānāwai ʻia ʻana o ke Aupuni ʻo Hawaiʻi i ka makahiki 1893, e hoʻonoho ʻia ai i ka ʻAha Hoʻokō.
